At approximately 4:30 pm a vehicle operated by Boston City Councilor for District 6 Kendra Lara crashed through a rod iron fence and into a residential building at 803 Centre Street.

Lara was not alone in the vehicle and was accompanied by her young son. According to radio transmissions from the Boston Fire Department’s Engine 28, the incident required Emergency Medical Services to treat the child for unknown injuries.

As rumors circulated on social media that this incident may involve Councilor Lara, nothing could be substantiated until BAN obtained the draft copy of the initial incident report.

The report states:

About 4:27pm on Friday, 6/30/23, Officer Zayas in the J425F responded to a radio call for a motor vehicle accident with injjuries at 803. Upon arrival, officers observed BFD and EMTs attending to the motor vehicle accident. Officers observed the vehicle located inside the left side of the home, indicating a significant impact. The sequence of events indicated that the vehicle hit the fence outside the home, then crashed into the bushed[sp?] before ultimately colliding with the left side of the porch causing significant damage to the home. Upon further investigation, officers proceeded to check on the driver of the vehicle and her child who were inside the ambulance when officers arrived. The driver, identified as (Kendra Lara DOB: 09/03/1989) stated she was traveling inbound on Centre Street when another car suddenly pulled out in front of her from the right side. The driver stated she swerved the car left in attempt to avoid a collision with the vehicle and was unable to hit the brakes fast enough before colliding into the home. The driver explained to Officer Zayas that the other driver of the other vehicle did not appear to check their mirrors or assess the situation before pulling out. EMTs It should be noted that Kendra Lara stated that both she and her child had their seat belts on at the time of the accident, with the child seated behind the passenger seat. It should also be noted that the child was not in a booster seat, which is a violation of the law as children must be secured in a booster seat until they are 8 years of age or meet the minimum height requirement of 57 inches. As a result, a 51A report was filed due to neglect and failure to use a proper car seat for the child’s safety. It should also be noted that it was discovered that Kendra Lara was driving with a revoked license. Additionally, the vehicle she was driving was found to be unregistered.

According to insider information, the vehicle Councilor Lara was driving was not her own but is alleged to belong to another City of Boston employee, Owen Thomas.

For many, this name might sound familiar as Thomas is the man filming the distasteful video of Lara, pantless in front of her child, in which both Thomas and Lara crudely joke about a sex act they had just performed on one another in front of said child.

A more in-depth assessment of that video can be seen at TB Daily News by clicking here.

The sincerest hope of all of us at BAN is that any injuries sustained in this tragic incident are swiftly mended.

We also expect city leadership to act accordingly and lead by example by swiftly holding Councilor Lara accountable for her actions by calling for her resignation.

Lara’s dangerous and outright reckless behavior endangered the life of not just one child but everyone else living, working, or commuting in the vicinity of 803 Centre Street.
